There Will Be Blood is an excellent movie, and there are moments in it that are genuinely emotional, but it lacks that personal feeling to me that keeps it from being quite on the same level as Magnolia. Maybe that's just me reading in to it too much, but that's the feeling I got the first time I saw it in the theater and it has stuck with me over the years. I know it's a broad story with many people, but it almost felt like those people were all, somehow, manifestations of him. It felt very introspective in a way only Punch Drunk Love seems to come close to. Retrieved November 19, 2021.It may be the soundtrack, but I always got the feeling that Magnolia was something of a very personal story for PTA. Recording Industry Association of America.
